DESPA's Competition Team
Our Competition Team offers opportunities for ages 5-18 to showcase their talent on stage through multiple performances in competitions and various events throughout the year. Our Competition Team is designed for dancers who want to take their skills and training to the next level.
Apart from attending competitions, our team members engage in Team Bonding Day, Team Photoshoot Day, Holiday Parties, Big Sister/Little Sister, and an End-Of-The-Year Gala, creating an environment where our team members grow and bond with each other.
Our Competition Team has an impressive track record of winning numerous awards, including Top Overalls, Judges' Choice Awards, and titles such as 8 and Under National Champions, 8 and Under Highest Scoring Routine of the Day, 9-11 Highest Scoring Routine of the Day, 9 Power Pak Scholarship Winners, 7 Discovery Spotlight Winners, Overall Entertainment Awards, Overall Choreography Awards, and more.
Our studio competes in all three levels of competition: Novice (beginning dancers with 1-2 years of experience), Intermediate (dancers with 2-3 years of experience), and Elite (dancers with 3+ years of experience). Auditions/Intensive Week
Are you ready to take your skills and techniques to the next level? Join our Competition Team by auditioning for our intensive week! During this week, you will have the opportunity to learn from renowned teachers from all over the US, work with guest faculty and choreographers in-house, and even explore new dance styles and techniques. All of this for $140, covering the expenses of the intensive faculty and your training with them.
Be prepared to impress as you demonstrate your skills and combinations from the intensive faculty daily. Make sure to bring plenty of water and all of your dance shoes to enhance your experience. After the audition process is complete, you will receive your acceptance letter along with your dances, only two days later.
For those who are unable to attend our intensive week, you can still schedule a private audition at a modified cost. Don't miss out on this amazing opportunity to take your dance career to the next level.
Weekly Technique Classes
Our Competition Team requires its dancers to attend Technique Classes. They have designated "Team Days" where they attend dance classes with the Competition Team, but they are also required to attend at least one Recreational class. Our team members have the opportunity to take advantage of our unlimited rate and attend multiple classes throughout the week!
On Team Technique Days, dancers attend classes on Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, and Leaps and Turns. This variety of classes, along with their Recreational Classes, is what makes our team so diverse. Choreography is scheduled for weekends on a monthly calendar.

Since we are a dance studio where dancers take classes, Team Choreography is treated as additional and will run on a separate time and focus solely on the dance(s) that require choreography, rehearsals, or any other additional work.
Competitions
As a member of our team, each dancer is required to attend at least three local competitions, which provide an excellent platform for them to get more stage time and push their training further. By participating in competitions, dancers can also bond and build friendships that last a lifetime.
Furthermore, we understand that some dancers might want to compete more than three times, which is why we offer them the ability to do so. We provide a list of multiple competitions that are optional, and they can attend these on their own free time. Soloists, duets/trios, and groups (with the consensus of all members) are allowed to participate in these optional competitions.
Our dancers also have the chance to attend Dance Conventions and Dance Nationals to really shine with other dancers from all over!

Competitions are an excellent way for dancers to continue building their skills, and there's no better way to do so than by performing in front of a live audience. It's also a way for dancers to challenge themselves and gain confidence in their abilities. We believe that every dancer has the potential to succeed, and we're here to help them achieve their goals.
